THE HISTORY OF CHOK'LITT
Inspired by and in honor of her Grandfather's famous English Toffee family recipe, Nancy Becker founded Chok’litt in 2007. Nancy’s true passion lies in Gifting - in designing beautiful keepsakes with hand-written note cards, finished with a wax-seal and perfect in every detail to create wonderful gifting experiences. Combining both loves, Nancy has taken Gifting to the next level. She selects the most exquisite gift boxes from around the world, elegant in every way and completes them with Chok’litt’s deliciously handcrafted EnglishToffees and Viking Chocolates. No matter how you spell it, throughout time chocolate has always had a mystique. Used for religious rituals, health elixir, aphrodisiac, currency, dowry, ransom or simply a reason for a social gathering, no other commodity enjoys such varied history, beliefs and usage.
ART
History tells us that in 1643 the Spanish Princess Maria Theresa was betrothed to Louis XIV of France. Maria Theresa gave her fiance’ an engagement gift of chocolate packaged in an ornate chest. Chocolate was a delectable symbol of luxury, wealth and power and the beauty of the chest was embraced by the French Royal Court, thus the concept of chocolate packaging as an art form was born. It is with this history that Chok’litt seeks, designs, and offers its chocolates housed in global artisan gift boxes. Each season new treasures found globally, will be offered. While we invite you to enjoy the finest handmade English Toffees and gourmet Viking Chocolates you've ever had, we also invite you to share in our passion of Gifting through art, history and travel.
